Then we’ve got your “ticket to excitement” on our 14-day adventure as we voyage from enchanting ROME, ITALY on Princess Cruise Lines Superliner…. the M/S Island Princess! You’ll first enjoy “three exciting sleepover nights” in the legendary Eternal City of ROME including Italian breakfast daily! You’ll also enjoy a special “Rawhide treat” the first night (Mmmmm good!) and another “Rawhide treat” the second day (bring your camera!) plus a full third day of free time to enjoy this vibrant city bursting with a variety of thrilling sights and fabulous experiences! From visiting the Roman Colosseum and Vatican City to walking the Spanish Steps and seeing the Sistine Chapel, you’ll see and do it all on our mesmerizing “ROME SLEEPOVER” followed by a dazzling 11-day Grand Mediterranean Princess cruise visiting not only Italy, but FIVE other adventuresome countries and islands!

“Sardinia Nuraghi”

First stop, Cagliari on the sophisticated Italian island of Sardinia. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, it has nearly 1,242 miles of coastline, beautiful sandy beaches, turquoise waters and a very mountainous interior crossed with hiking trails. The rugged landscape is dotted with thousands of nuraghi, (mysterious “Bronze Age” stone ruins shaped like beehives). A MUST SEE is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a magnificent 13th century cathedral, an important city landmark. Whether you’re looking for watersports, scenic train journeys, wine tasting, archaeology sites or Roman ruins, Sardinia has it all!

“The Valley of Temples”

Next stop, Palermo on the island of Sicily (Italy), known for its fine architecture, history, gastronomy (art of good eating), culture, world famous Mount Etna, The Valley of Temples (one of the most outstanding examples of ancient Greek art and architecture in the world), heavenly beaches and, of course, mafia origins. A MUST SEE is The Valley of Temples and Palermo Cathedral which houses royal tombs. From walking to culinary tours, Palermo is one town you’ll never forget. DON’T miss the busy markets including the central Ballarò street market, and the Vucciria market, near the cruise port. They, alone, might be the adventure of a lifetime!

“Knights of Malta”

Next stop, Valletta, the tiny capital of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta. This amazing walled city was established in the 1500’s and is known for museums, palaces and grand churches! Landmarks include Saint John’s Cathedral, whose opulent interior is home to the Caravaggio masterpiece “The Beheading of John The Baptist.” A Valletta Harbour Cruise, taking you past historical forts and battlements is an spectacular experience and the 430 year old Casa Rocca Piccola, a 16th century palace, is a maze of rooms with an extensive collection of Maltese furniture that is literally breathtaking. From quaint narrow alleyways that lead to intriguing little shops, cafés and bars, this is one town you’ll long admire and probably return to one day for a weeks vacation!

“Colorful Corfu Houses”

Next port, after a full day at sea, is Corfu, one of the 227 inhabited Greek Islands located in the Ionian Sea. Famous for its dazzling sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, its one of the reasons why so many movies were filmed here including For Your Eyes Only starring Roger Moore and My Big Fat Greek Wedding just to name a few. The Achilleion Palace, built in the 1890’s for Empress Elisabeth of Austria, is a magnificent master piece and a must see. The town is one of the most intriguing towns in Greece with its maze of cobblestone streets full of old tavernas (not to be confused with a tavern, a tavernas is a small, authentic Greek restaurant), cafes and shops, with a 15th-century fortress as its backdrop. Simply spectacular. Corfu is one exotic island you’ll long remember and yearn to return to, even if you don’t want to be a movie star!

“Boku Bay, Kotor”

Next stop is Kotor, Montenegro located on the Adriatic Sea and famous for its towering limestone cliffs, elegant beach resorts, fabulous mountains, glacial lakes, and is listed as one of the most beautiful countries in the world! The town itself is characterized by narrow winding streets and squares, lined with ancient stone houses, old palaces, and churches dating from the 12th century. A great and unique fun way to see Kotor is from the seat of a tuk tuk! Try it, you’ll like it! MUST SEES are the “Blue Cave,” Kotor Cathedral and Zanjic Beach. Rather its a narrated scenic drive of Kotor or a 4-wheel drive adventure, Montenegro will, for sure, capture your heart.

“Walled Town of Dubrovnik”

Next port, Dubrovnik, in the stunning country of Croatia. Located on the Adriatic Sea, the city is known for its distinctive “Old Town,” which is encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 13th century. And if you think “King’s Landing” is a complete fairy tale land of make-believe, better think again! HBO’s hit fantasy series, Game of Thrones, was shot extensively in Dubrovnik (there’s even a Game Of Thrones Tour offered by Princess). A MUST DO is to walk the ancient walls that surround the town revealing fantastic views of the old town’s terracotta rooftops and views out to the cobalt blue Adriatic sea. Don’t forget your camera! Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque Saint Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace. From walking tours to historical sites, and from a harbor cruise to visiting mesmerizing Rector’s Palace, Dubrovnik is one town you’ll long remember for it’s uniqueness, Croatian charm, and super friendly locals always willing to help.

“Eerie deserted Pompeii street”

Sadly, our last stop will be Salerno, Italy where the world famous Amalfi Coast begins. Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento and Positano are also within easy reach. It was Mount Vesuvius (only five miles from Naples) that erupted in 79 AD destroying the Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. MUST SEES are Nuovo Castle and dell’Ovo Castle, simply astounding. And, since Naples is the birthplace of pizza, a MUST TRY is the original Neapolitan pizza! From walking the eerie streets of Pompeii to visiting an Archaeological Museum, and from visits to Sorrento and Positano, Salerno is one town you’ll never, ever forget!
